Version history
A big update: more control over downloads, better authentication options, and a long list of fixes. [NEW] Download speed limit β cap downloads at 1, 2, 5 or 10 MB/s in Settings, or leave them unlimited. Concurrent download limit β choose how many downloads run at once (default 3). The rest wait in Queue as "Waiting" and start automatically when a slot frees up. Split by chapter β for videos that have chapters, a toggle on the download screen saves one extra file per chapter alongside the full video. Import cookies.txt β use an exported cookies file instead of reading a browser's cookie store. Subtitle languages β choose which subtitle languages are embedded when metadata embedding is on (default en,vi). Retry from Library β failed and cancelled downloads now have a Retry button. Link from clipboard β copy a link and switch to the app, the URL field is filled for you. Nothing is fetched until you press Fetch; can be turned off in Settings. yt-dlp keeps itself current β the download engine checks for a newer yt-dlp on launch and updates in the background. Settings shows the installed version with a "Check for update" button. Extraction warnings β if yt-dlp reports a problem while fetching video info (for example, some formats may be missing), the warning is shown on screen instead of being hidden. [IMPROVED] Batch mode fetches video info four links at a time instead of one by one. A fetch that stalls can be cancelled, and gives a clear message after 90 seconds instead of spinning forever. The menu bar and all remaining screens follow the in-app language setting (VI/EN). The bundled yt-dlp and ffmpeg are checksum-verified before every release. [FIXED] A finished download was reported as an error when a file with the same name already existed in the output folder. It now gets a " (1)", " (2)"β¦ suffix. Download used whatever was in the URL field at the time, not the video whose formats were shown, if the field had been edited after fetching. Text starting with a dash was passed to the downloader as an option instead of a URL. Pressing Fetch again while a fetch was running could hide the spinner and re-enable the button while the new fetch was still in progress. A download that could not start stayed stuck in Queue with Cancel and Pause doing nothing. Reminder: first launch of a fresh install needs right-click β Open. Existing installs update automatically through Check for Updates.
Fixes Fixed: after closing the main window, the app icon no longer lingers as an invisible "ghost" window in Stage Manager. Fixed: downloads that were stuck showing "Downloading" forever (if the app crashed or was force-quit mid-download) are now correctly marked as failed so you can retry them. Fixed: quitting the app now waits for any active yt-dlp/ffmpeg downloads to stop cleanly instead of leaving orphaned background processes. Improvements The yt-dlp auto-updater now verifies the downloaded binary's checksum before installing it, and installs it more safely (no partial/corrupt installs if interrupted). Deleting a download, a history entry, clearing history, or removing a watched channel now asks for confirmation first. Added VoiceOver accessibility labels to icon-only buttons across the app. More robust progress-percentage parsing in the Queue view. Enabled macOS Hardened Runtime for improved security.
Bug fixes for the sidebar and auto-updater: Switching sidebar tabs (Home, Queue, Library, Watch) no longer resets what you were doing β a video fetch in progress, the batch list, Library's search text, and Watch's typed channel URL all stay put when you come back to a tab. Fixed the Library/Home toolbar buttons showing up while a different tab was active. Fixed Dark/Light β System appearance not reliably switching back to match macOS. Fixed the updater sometimes reporting a new version as available even when you were already on the latest one.
Rebuilt from the ground up as a fully native macOS app (Swift/SwiftUI), replacing the previous Tauri-based version. Same download experience β format selection, batch downloads, queue, library/history, watch-folder auto-download β now running natively for lower memory/CPU usage. Auto-update also moves to a new mechanism (Sparkle); this is the first release on it.
DKB Downloader 1.2.6 - Fixed: the app icon appearing oversized on older macOS versions, due to missing safe-area padding around the artwork.
DKB Downloader 1.2.5 - Added a "Recent links" tab in Library β every link you've fetched or downloaded is now saved there, with a one-click button to fetch it again instantly. Search and clear-all are also available. Minor layout polish on the New Download page: Batch mode toggle moved back above the URL field, and the audio-merge note now shows above the quality list.
DKB Downloader 1.1.4 - Fixed a bug where downloading audio-only with thumbnail/subtitle embedding enabled could fail after the file was already downloaded, due to an incompatible audio container (e.g. webm). Audio-only downloads are now automatically converted to a compatible format when embedding is on.
DKB Downloader 1.1.3 - Fixed the Play button in Library not opening the downloaded file - Downloads now process in a temporary folder and only move the finished file into your output folder once complete β no more leftover subtitle/thumbnail files cluttering your download folder - Added a note clarifying that "no audio" quality options still get the best audio track merged in automatically
DKB Downloader 1.1.2 - Fixed a bug where switching to another tab and back would clear the video info you'd just fetched - Moved the "Batch mode" switch below the input for a cleaner layout
DKB Downloader 1.1.1 - Paste a playlist link and it's automatically expanded into a list of videos, ready to review and add to the queue - Fixed a bug where downloading a single video that also belonged to a playlist could accidentally download the whole playlist instead - New app icon
